Answered Prayers

As you probably are aware, I went in for surgery yesterday for a mass that they found in my uterus last week. The surgery went very well and I'm in full swing as far as recovery goes. Dr. Witz says the uterus will be healed in 3 – 4 weeks and we’ll be good-to-go.

They found two growths which the doctor believes are pieces of tissue that never dissolved from my previous pregnancies. We should have the pathology report back on Friday. They also found out that I have a Uterine Septum also known as a double uterus or horned uterus. This condition is something that I was born with; in fact it began around 2 months gestation in mama’s womb. A uterus develops from two tubelike structures. As you grow to full term, these tubes enlarge and their middle portions fuse together to form the uterus. There are several different scenarios with this condition but for me, my ducts fused, but the area where they joined it did not dissolve, leaving a dividing wall inside the uterine cavity -- a uterine septum. The septum does not have a normal blood supply therefore if the baby implants on the septum, it will not survive. This could have very well been our problem with the last two pregnancies. The doctor said our chances of carrying full term doubled when removing the septum. I pray that this is our answer!

As for me, I am feeling well but not 100% . Of course, I couldn’t have done without Grant and his ongoing positive attitude and support.

We appreciate all of the thoughts and prayers. We have such a strong support system!
We will keep you posted on our progress.

Much love to all!

Positive News

Well, we had our appointment with the fertility specialist this morning. Everything went well and for the most part we had positive notes on our chart. On a list of 12 or so items, we are only having to test for two. On Thursday I am scheduled to have a Sonohysterogram done which is an ultrasound of your uterus while it is filled with saline. The saline helps to highlight the uterus and any irregularities within it, including structural abnormalities, fibroids, polyps and scar tissue. Many of these problems can be surgically corrected. The other test is for aging oocytes which is a risk of genetically impaired eggs that increases with age. They can diagnose this problem with a simple blood test. We will have the results for both tests around December 15th.

Dr. Valdez was optimistic about our goals with regard to start trying again. She said with our age and overall medical history, things looked like they were in our favor.

We are relieved and excited that whatever the diagnosis may be, we will still be able to concieve and have children of our own.

Grant and I appreciate the ongoing prayers and support from our family and friends. It is such a blessing to be loved this much! I thank God every day for my very supportive husband and know that our faith will pull us through.

The soul would have no rainbow if the eyes had no tears

Tomorrow we have our appointment with the fertility specialist. I am excited yet nervous at the same time. I know that God knows the deepest desires of our heart and will provide to us if we hold close to him.

Please conitue to pray for us through this tough journey in our lives. I hope, soon, our dreams of becoming parents will be a reality.

Faith is not about believeing that God can but knowing that he will.

Love to all
