It has been so long since I've taken the time to post so I am going to catch up on things here! Harper is now 9 weeks old and I am loving every minute of it. She smiles, tries to laugh and is overall a very happy baby.
Harper received her first round of shots at 2 months and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Daddy went with us and stood by her so I didn't have to and that made it easier on me. I was able to nurse right afterwards and that helped soothe her. She weighed in at 12 lbs 8 oz was 23" long - 90 percentile for weight, 50 percentile for height and head. Harper eats 2.5 - 3 oz every two hours during the day and gives us a good 3 - 4 hour stretch during the night - whew. Dr. Lange checked out the red bump on her forehead and diagnosed her with a hemangioma which is a benign tumor. It is an abnormal buildup of blood vessels and they're not quite sure what causes them. Unless it begins to impair her vision, they will let it run it's cycle and eventually it will go away on it's own. Here is my angel at home after her appointment - look at those sad eyes. Poor baby!
Nanny Margaret started last week and the first day was pretty rough on us all. Harper was very fussy from her 2 month shots the day before and just wanted mama to hold her. Luckily Margaret is an experienced mother of four and very patient. I tell everyone if you walked into our home, not knowing any better, you would think she is Harper's Grandma -- she loves on her all day long. I know she'll be in good hands but still very hard to not be home with her. Mama will be very sad when she heads back to work next Monday!
During my leave we have been to the zoo twice, to Galveston and to visit the grandparents quite a bit. There really hasn't been a dull moment and I have enjoyed every minute with her. Daddy gets sad that he misses out on the fun but I try to send him a picture or two every day to remind him what he has waiting at home for him.
